Every Monday we are going to be featuring a short Q & A with a local vendor who we love to work with and is, all around, awesome; and this week it’s Newburyport’s Holistic Nutrition & Wellness specialist Christy Lemire Wellness!
Q: What was it about Health/Wellness business that made you get in the industry?
A. I found my passion for health and wellness through my own personal journey. After finding myself stressed, tired, emotionally eating and experiencing minor health issues while working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, I decided it was time to start taking care of myself!
I started embracing healthy eating habits, exercise, yoga and setting boundaries within my work life. I quickly began feeling drastically better, having more energy, an elevated mood and enjoying life much more! I realized I wanted to dedicate my time and efforts using my experience and strengths to help others nourish their bodies and bring healthy habits into their unique lifestyles.
I dove headfirst into the first of my Holistic Health certification programs and my journey as a Holistic Nutrition & Wellness Coach and Yoga Teacher was born. I’ve never looked back!
Q: If money were no object, what would you do for a day?
A: My perfect day would include morning yoga and mediation on the beach, some kind of egg and avocado dish with amazing coffee and a glass of green juice for breakfast, surfing small waves in warm waters until totally exhausted, eating tacos and plantains for lunch, getting a 2 hour massage followed by a beach nap and sipping coconut water straight out of the nut and then ending the day with my best friends, laughs, Italian food and red wine by an outdoor fire singing along to live music.
I lived a day like this once and I day dream about it often! Oh, and if I could somehow fit in hanging out with horses in there, that would make the day extra blissful.
Q: What is your favorite family vacation memory?
A: There are too many good ones to choose from! It lives somewhere between summer lounging at the lake or long drives in the back of a mini van to Florida or from San Diego to Vegas. I think I am one of the rare few that loved being the middle child.
Q: What song would you sing at Karaoke & why?
A: It’s been a long time, but I had a karaoke stint while working for and traveling with The Antiques Roadshow just after college. Thursday nights were karaoke nights before the 14 hour workdays began. “Son of a Preacher Man” was my go-to song just because I could almost pull off the range. I love to sing…but it’s not that pretty!
Q: Tell me 5 things I would see when I walk into your office.
1. A shelf full of books on health, wellness, yoga and recipes.
2. My favorite yoga mat in my favorite color…green.
3. Family photos…my relationships are my joy and the people I love most are my inspiration!
4. A piece of Jasper…known to heal and unify all aspects of your life.
